This project involved a multidisciplinary engineering and architectural contract for priority repair improvements of the existing Metro-North Railroad (MNR) Harmon Yard, located in Westchester County, New York. The 100-acre site has been the center for railroad activities for the rail system north of New York City for over 100 years. The proposed project development was generally restricted to the western portion of the site and involved various repairs to existing facilities, civil sitework, pavement rehabilitations, and utility system design.
The civil design scope included the development of construction documents for a long term construction staging area, rehabilitation of an existing roadway, pavement design of a storage yard, storm drain utility sizing, the design of a new canopy structure, and the development of the SWPPP report with pre-development and post-development drainage plans. Discipline coordination was imperative to this project’s success.
